Abilities Care Therapists NEW to the Program; Dementia Care – Southland CA

The below courses are intended for Therapists who are NEW to the Program and Dementia Care.
These courses include a $450.00 per Facility for Assessment Supplies
Registration begins promptly at 8:00amUnderstanding and Applying the Allen Cognitive Levels and Modes 8:30am-11:30am
Earn .3 CEUs/3 CCUs – Course intended for PT, PTA, OT, OTA and SLP
Participants will gain a broad overview of the Cognitive Disabilities Model and the application of Allen’s levels and modes to the treatment of persons with Alzheimer’s disease and other Major Neurocognitive Disorders. Participants will learn about patients’ abilities at each level and mode, with an emphasis on remaining cognitive abilities, communication patterns and behavioral responses. Participants will utilize clinical reasoning to predict expected patient performance in key areas of function based on the Cognitive Disabilities Model. Participants will have the opportunity to practice key elements of documentation that reflect the skilled clinical reasoning used when adapting task demands based on the Allen cognitive levels and modes.
Abilities Care Approach Assessment Workshop – 12:30-3:30pm
Earn .3 CEUs/3 CCUs – Course Intended for PT, PTA, OT, OTA, and SLP
Participants will gain a broad overview of the Abilities Care Approach and the use of the Allen Cognitive Battery for the assessment of persons with Alzheimer’s disease and other Major Neurocognitive Disorders. Participants will learn to administer and score the LACLS-5, the ADM, and the RTI-E and will participate in a skills lab to practice administration and scoring of these assessments. Participants will learn to develop a comprehensive occupational profile as a critical element of the assessment process. Participants will consider key assessment strategies for identifying the impact of the social and physical environment and context on performance and participation
