Otago Falls Prevention – Livingston TX

Date: Saturday June 22, 2019, 8:00am – 12:30pm – Open to PT, PTA, OT, OTA – Earn .4 CEUs/4 CCUs

This Fall Prevention Program would be a year-long endeavor and requires consistent application
of principles and strategies. Since we have an existing program, part of our course
would be how to integrate into existing policy.

Objectives: Therapists/Participants will have the opportunity to:
1) Understand and relate the principles of fall prevention and specifics of the Otago Fall Prevention Program to other team members, families, and older adults with whom they serve
2) Skillfully and reliably apply the flow, testing and exercise techniques of the Otago Fall Prevention program in their practice setting
3) Participate in case studies to integrate the Otago Fall Prevention Program into their existing setting.

7:30am Registration – Coffee and Goodies
8:00am Principles of Fall prevention and the Otago Fall Prevention Program Flow and Testing for Reliability and Follow-Up
10-10:15am Brain break
10:15-11:00am Break out session – Practice Testing
11:00-11:15am Exercise techniques and progression
11:15-12:00 Break out session – Practice techniques and case studies
12-12:15pm Discussion of “How to integrate into your current setting” Q&A;
12:15-12:30 Wrap-up and Homework
